IMPORTANT INFORMATION AND NOTICES
Adverse weather conditions / Emergency closure / Evacuation
Please see below our procedure in the event of adverse weather conditions or emergency closure/evacuation.
- Nursery will endeavour to stay open – weather permitting.
- In the event of heavy snow or other conditions that threaten the safety of pupils and staff, we will use a direct message by WhatsApp or text. Please note: if you hear Holmesdale Infant School is closed, Nursery may be open as some staff live close enough to walk in. Please text me on 07836730444 for confirmation. If you have a child that attends Holmesdale Infant School, information will be put on the school's parent hub app and nursery will also be mentioned.
- In the event of the weather worsening during the day while the children are at nursery, please come and collect your child at any time, or whether there maybe risk when bringing them, please be sensible and stay at home.
- In such circumstances, school and nursery will close early, as soon as all the children have been collected.
- If you, too, are trapped in snow at work or on the road and cannot collect your child, please try and ring someone who can come and fetch your child – please remember to also inform us if somebody different is collecting, but as a last resort, staff will stay at nursery until the last child is safely collected no matter what the time. Please do not abuse this “ safety-net” as it relies absolutely on the goodwill of the staff who obviously will also want to get home safely.
- If we have to close then it is due to unforeseen circumstances and unfortunately refunds cannot be given as staffing and running costs still have to be paid.
- I will endeavour to keep you informed via the WhatsApp group or text, so please ensure your details are kept up-to-date and remember to check your phone on a regular basis to ensure information is not missed.
- In the event of emergency evacuation; the whole school site including nursery walk down to Stonelow Junior School. After the Headteacher assesses the situation, we will either ring you to collect your child from Stonelow Junior School or if it is safe to do so we will walk back to nursery and carry on with our day.
Please keep this information in a safe place so that you can refer to it when the need arises.
Yours Sincerely
Mrs Dawn Curry
Nursery Manager
